Article types

This journal allows for the submission of Research Articles, Research Notes, Book Reviews, Bibliographies, and Special Section Articles only. For other publication types, please contact the editor directly at pt.editor@icct.nl.

Submission requirements

Manuscript Format
Submitted manuscripts that do not meet the below criteria may not be considered further.

  • To ensure a full double-blind peer review process, manuscript documents should not include any personal identifying information, such as name, institutional affiliation, email etc.
  • Manuscripts should adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, for referencing and style.
  • Word count: 5,000-8,000 words, excluding endnotes.
  • Manuscripts should use endnotes, and include full citations. See the Chicago Manual of Style for further guidance.
  • Manuscripts should be written in British English, and be formatted as follow: Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 spacing. Headings and subheadings should be indicated in bold and italics, respectively.
  • Manuscripts should include an abstract (max. 250 words), and 5 keywords.
  • Figures/tables/illustrations should be submitted as separate, high-resolution documents. Please include placeholders within the manuscript document for each.

Additional required files
Authors are further requested to submit the following documents alongside their manuscripts:

  • Author(s) biographies of no more than 4 lines, incluidng affiliations and social media handles, if applicable.
  • Letter of commitment, which states that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere, nor is it currently under review elsewhere. Please also disclose any potential conflicts of interest herein.
  • Figures/tables/illustrations in high resolution. Please consult the submission page for accepted formats.

Editorial and Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo an intital screening. If the articles meet the criteria outlined above, and fit within the scope of the jounral, they are then subject to a double-blind peer review process.

Publication details

The editors will make every effort to notify authors of the decision within 8 weeks of receipt. Please note: this is an indicative timeline and subject to vary.

Perspectives on Terrorism editors reserve the right to reject any submission without elucidation. Manuscripts that are accepted on condition of revision may be subject to a second review after revisions are received.

This is an open access journal distributed under the terms of an implicit license, which means that when an author has submitted an article for publication and subsequently sent revised drafts after peer review, approved copyedited drafts, etc., the author has implicitly granted a right to publish.

Both parties agree to the attribution of an article as follows: Perspectives on Terrorism agrees to acknowledge the author(s) in the Table of Contents and the About the Author(s) section at the end of their published work, and the author agrees to acknowledge Perspectives on Terrorism as the site of original publication of the article. The implicit license permits unrestricted non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
